Interaction Between Lucy and Officer Tom About License

Driver's license, please, he said, yawning. Lucy searched her bag. Keys, tissues, an old banana. She was too dizzy to think clearly. Sorry, she said.

What does it look like? Tom rubbed his eyes. It's small and square with your face on it. Lucy found a small square mirror. She looked into it.

Here you go. Tom took the mirror, stared into it for a long moment, and gave it back. OK, you can go, he said.

Surprising Ending of the Encounter
