On July 19 Spain won the 2026 FIFA World Cup by beating Argentina one-zero.The match took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA.The only goal came in the 1 hundred and fifth minute of the game, which is the first minute of extra time.Ferran Torres, a forward player for Spain, scored this important goal.After the game, Spain's midfielder, Rodri, lifted the World Cup trophy with his teammates.Many fans inside the stadium were very happy and celebrated the win.

The World Cup tournament was held from June 11 to July 19 2026 It was hosted by three countries, the United States, Mexico, and Canada.This tournament had 48 teams, which is the biggest number ever in World Cup history.Spain's win means they now hold both the World Cup and the European Championship titles at the same time for the second time.

Messi’s Last World Cup, Argentina’s Tough Game

For Argentina, this was a sad night.Many people thought it would be Lionel Messi's last World Cup.Messi is a famous football player.After the game, he received a medal for coming second.The crowd clapped for him, showing respect and love.

Argentina had some problems during the match.Enzo Fernandez got two yellow cards, which means he had to leave the game before extra time.Later, Leandro Paredes got a red card after the match because of a fight.This made things harder for Argentina.Spain's strong and careful defense made it very difficult for Argentina to score.

Big Shows and Famous Stars

This World Cup final had many special shows.For the first time, there was a halftime show, like in the NFL Super Bowl.Singers like Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira, and the group BTS performed.The Muppets also appeared.

Before the game started, there was a closing ceremony.Actor Tom Cruise and singer Jennifer Hudson were there.Other performers included Burna Boy, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus, and Coldplay.

Former US President Donald Trump was at the final.He gave the golden World Cup trophy to the Spanish players after the game.

The World Cup was also a big event for sportswear companies.Adidas was the official sponsor of FIFA.Adidas made the uniforms for Spain, Argentina, referees, and tournament helpers.Adidas saw a 70% increase in clothing sales, and more people visited their stores during the tournament.Their official video got 8.3 million views on YouTube.

Nike did not have an official FIFA partnership.Instead, Nike made a popular campaign called Rip the Script.This video got over 80 million views on YouTube, much more than Adidas.After Spain won, Nike made a video saying Vamos, a Spanish word that means let's go, to celebrate Spain's win.

However, Nike has some problems.Their share of the global sportswear market dropped from 29.2% in 2022 to twenty-two point nine percent in 2026Nike CEO Elliot Hill said the company lost focus on sports and needs to change.

After Spain's win, many big brands shared congratulations messages on social media.These brands included Coca-Cola Malaysia, Google, KitKat, Lays, McDonald's Singapore, Old Spice, and Ryanair.

During the World Cup games, people bought many products.Orders grew by 24% in 14 product categories.Snacks and drinks were especially popular, especially with younger people from Generation Z.
